Since earning a degree in Accounting from Eastern Illinois University in 1980, John has worked in various financial disciplines ultimately focusing on Public Accounting. Obtaining his CPA certification in 1982, he initially worked as a corporate financial analyst and internal auditor.
After gaining invaluable experience in the corporate world, John developed a desire to become more involved with the personal side of accounting – helping clients obtain financial security and success. Taking steps to realize this dream, he earned his Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation in addition to obtaining his securities license (Series 6, 7 and 63) in 1988.
Making the move from corporate to small business, John joined the Wheaton-based CPA firm of Volpe & McConnachie in 1991. Shortly after joining the business, he became an owner/partner until 1998, at which time he secured full ownership, changing the name of the firm to Grebe & Associates, PC.
John and his wife Dawn, live in Wheaton. He is an active community member and enjoys coaching, running, cycling and reading.
